"Lost Horizons"Mixed media including travertine marble, wood, paper, bone and beeswax. 40" x 12" x 12" 2005
Lost Horizons is an artist's book/sculpture with layered "pages" interspersed between slabs of travertine marble. Here the term "horizon" has a geological reference to the specific position of fossils in a stratigraphic column as well as its usual connotations. Nature is represented as cultural icon. Bones and thorny seeds embedded in beeswax refer to her endless cycles of death and resurrection. |
